Emergency Lifesavers Desperately Needed at Animal Care Services

SAN ANTONIO (July 16, 2026) – With wet weather in the forecast for the next several days, San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is encouraging the community to help partner with the shelter to create critical shelter space. A surge in pets arriving from weather-related calls, coupled with full kennels, means lifesavers are urgently needed at the shelter.

SAACS is seeking temporary emergency fosters as well as adopters who can safely provide homes for shelter dogs. Every pet that leaves the shelter means a kennel for another pet in need. Residents should visit SAACS, located at 4710 State Highway 151, to meet dogs in immediate need of placement.

All adoption fees will be waived through this weekend. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations and a registered microchip, while fosters will be provided with all necessary supplies and medical care.
