Dogtober Pet Adoption Festival Set to Take Over San Antonio

Hundreds of pets will be available for adoption at this fall event featuring paws, purrs and 3,000 pumpkins.

SAN ANTONIO (October 21, 2025) – From hundreds of pets waiting for forever homes to a pumpkin patch perfect for a seasonal selfie, the Dogtober Pet Adoption Festival is bigger and better than ever. This year, San Antonio Animal Care Services’ signature fall event will run from October 25-26 on the campus located at 4710 State Highway 151. Dogtober will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is free.

The festival is doubling up on the fall fun with an expansion to the San Antonio Food Bank next door. Hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption, many for the $25 Dogtober special. The event will also feature:

• A massive pumpkin patch with free admission. Perfect for selfies and family photos!
• Live tunes throughout the day with TikTok sensations Haley Anna and Geanky Music
• Passport For Paws, a scavenger hunt-style dog enrichment activity 
• Live Pawteria for prizes, Puppies n’ Pilates, and Furtunes by Madame Purrfecto
• Artisan marketplaces featuring local vendors in both festival zones
• Tasty bites and seasonal treats from food trucks 
• Fun, fall-themed activities for kids and pet lovers alike

This year’s Dogtober partner shelters and rescues include San Antonio Pets Alive!, Animal Defense League, Footbridge Foundation, San Antonio Humane Society and SNIPSA.
