Animal Care Services’ adoption festival moves to a new location October 17–18.
SAN ANTONIO (October 8, 2026) – San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is taking Dogtober on the road for 2026. The City shelter’s annual fall adoption festival will be held at Camargo Park this year on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. at 5738 Castroville Road, 78227.
The move from the SAACS campus comes in response to recent distemper concerns affecting dogs in the shelter and the community. Just a few minutes from the SAACS campus, Camargo Park offers plenty of outdoor space for a weekend of family-friendly fall fun and, most importantly, new lifesaving opportunities for shelter pets to find homes.
As always, Dogtober 2026 brings the fall fun with adoptable pets from SAACS, the San Antonio Humane Society, Animal Defense League, SNIPSA and San Antonio Pets Alive! Attendees can check out their favorites in the foster pet beauty pageant and grab that perfect fall selfie in the festival pumpkin patch. This year’s event will feature a new family-friendly straw bale maze as well as entertainment and kids’ activities throughout the weekend. Food trucks will be on hand for seasonal eats and treats with the famous Dogtober Paw’p Up marketplace once again spotlighting small businesses. The first 100 adopters will receive free gifts for their new furry friends. Admission is free, but Early Access tickets are available for would-be adopters. Residents can get more information at SAACS.info/dogtober.
