District 8 Councilmember Sworn In to Serve on the Bexar County Appraisal District Board of Directors
SAN ANTONIO (January 13, 2026) – After being nominated by City Council on December 4, District 8 Councilmember Ivalis Meza Gonzalez was sworn in today to serve on the Bexar Central Appraisal District (BCAD) Board of Directors. In this role, the District 8 Councilmember will help provide governance oversight of the appraisal district, which administers the local property tax system.
“I am proud to serve on this distinguished board on behalf of San Antonio residents,” said the District 8 Councilmember. “I look forward to working collaboratively to help provide thoughtful governance oversight and to participating in budget review, reappraisal planning, and related responsibilities. This work is essential to maintaining public trust and ensuring fairness and transparency in a process that impacts families and businesses across our city.”
The BCAD Board of Directors provides governance oversight of the appraisal district, including adopting the budget and reappraisal plan, appointing the Chief Appraiser, and appointing members of the Appraisal Review Board. While the Board does not set individual property values, it helps ensure accountability and transparency in the appraisal process across the county.
