Published on September 26, 2025
SAN ANTONIO (September 26, 2025) – District 8 Councilmember Ivalis Meza Gonzalez shared the following statement regarding the first 100 days in office: “From the beginning, my priority has been to listen to residents, community leaders, employers, and organizations that make District 8 unique and San Antonio strong. These first months have been about building connections and getting to work right away.
“During the first 100 days at City Council, I hit the ground running—approving the City’s budget, appointing District 8 residents to serve on key Boards and Commissions, and addressing the needs of the community through events, town halls, and neighborhood meetings. District 8’s priority has been a transparent, community-centered approach that puts residents’ voices first.”
Constituent Services
“In just three months, the District 8 team has responded to more than 700 resident inquiries by phone, email, and in-person visits, resolving 182 cases ranging from housing assistance referrals to traffic, code enforcement, and public safety concerns.”
Community Engagement
“I have built strong relationships across District 8 by engaging with residents, HOAs, first responders, businesses, and non-profits. The District 8 office hosted events such as budget town halls, a Back-to-School Bash, the “Through the Decades” 5K, a district clean-up, and senior center activities. We also joined citywide efforts like the Stars & Stripes Parade, RiverAid Clean-Up, and the San Antonio Food Bank’s State of the Food Bank Dinner, while attending more than a dozen neighborhood association meetings to ensure residents have direct access to their Council office.”
Policy and Representation
“To increase transparency, the District 8 office launched a social media campaign to explain how funding for the proposed Sports & Entertainment District would work, including educational one-pagers and videos that provide residents with the tools they need to make informed decisions.
“I also appointed District 8 residents to serve on necessary City Boards and Commissions, including the Small Business Advisory Commission, Parks & Recreation Board, Animal Care Services Advisory Board, Ethics Review Board, and Zoning Commission, ensuring the district’s voice is represented in shaping San Antonio’s future.”
Looking Ahead
“These first 100 days are only the beginning. District 8 deserves thoughtful leadership, meaningful investment, and a clear vision for the future—and together, we will continue to make progress.”
