District 8 Councilmember Advances Sports & Entertainment District Term Sheet

SAN ANTONIO (August 21, 2025) – Today, City Councilmember Meza Gonzalez voted to move the Sports & Entertainment District term sheet forward. The Councilmember believes the current term sheet is a bold and transformational deal for San Antonio.

“This is a critical step toward advancing a project that has the potential to transform our city and provide maintenance to facilities that need it,” the District 8 Councilmember said. 

The District 8 Councilmember believes the term sheet advanced today shows how the Sports and Entertainment District will not use existing City resources. 

The Councilmember added, “I voted in favor of Item 5, because it is a strong step forward in creating opportunities for economic growth, investment in our downtown, and creating short and long-term jobs. We are uniquely positioned to ensure that growth is spread across all parts of our city, to lift up everyone in our community. My guiding principle throughout this process has been, and will continue to be, that families and District 8 residents must be able to have the best quality of life possible.”
