Councilmember donates $2,000 to help stock food pantries and clothing closets at Edgewood ISD and Northside ISD Campuses.

SAN ANTONIO (December 15, 2025) – District 6 Councilmember Ric Galvan announced the donation of $1,000 each to Edgewood Independent School District (EISD) and Northside Independent School District (NISD) to support districtwide food pantries and clothing closets for schools servicing District 6 families.

The funds will support essential resources at the following Title 1 campuses in District 6:

  • Myers Elementary School
  • Cable Elementary School
  • Passmore Elementary School
  • Meadow Village Elementary School
  • Hatchett Elementary School
  • Stafford Visual and Performing Arts Elementary School.

These campuses serve hundreds of students who often experience food insecurity and lack access to basic necessities – challenges that are heightened during the two-week period when schools close for winter break.

“For many of our District 6 families, schools aren’t just places of learning—they’re places of stability,” said Councilmember Galvan. “As campuses close for the longest break of the year, our goal is to make sure no child goes without food, warm clothing, or basic resources. Through coordination with our educators and school counselors, this support will go directly into the hands of the families who need it the most.”

This donation will help school staff purchase and distribute food, hygiene essentials, clothing items, and offer ongoing support to families who rely heavily on school-based assistance during the academic year. These contributions ensure that counselors, family support specialists, and staff have the means to provide help where it’s needed most. District 6 will continue to work closely with school leaders to identify needs and provide resources that strengthen well-being year–round.
