SAN ANTONIO (April 28, 2026) – The City of San Antonio Planning and Community Development Committee has moved forward with recommendations to amend zoning codes for all new data centers across San Antonio. The proposed changes include stronger development standards and measures to help mitigate noise impacts and require specific use zoning for all new data centers. These concerns led to the Council Consideration Request (CCR) that was filed in October 2025.

As the process moves forward, the City will establish a working group to help shape the final recommendations and ensure community voice is at the center of the conversation. This group will focus on developing standards that reflect resident concerns while balancing future development and infrastructure needs. Councilmember Galvan is encouraging all residents to contact his office to share feedback on what should be considered.

“Residents have made clear what they deserve,” said Councilmember Galvan. “This working group gives our community the opportunity to ensure their concerns are heard and to help shape standards that protect our neighborhoods while planning for responsible growth.”

District 6 remains committed to ensuring that data center development in the future reflects both infrastructure needs and the quality of life in surrounding neighborhoods. Residents can contact the District Office at 210-207-3749 or council.district6@sanantonio.gov.
