SAN ANTONIO (February 2, 2026) – City Council District 5 is hosting a Utility Town Hall on February 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Las Palmas Library, 515 Castroville Road, 78237. The event will create a space for residents to hear directly from utility providers and ask questions about proposed rate changes and long-term planning. Residents are strongly encouraged to attend, ask questions, and learn how upcoming utility decisions may impact their households.
“In the months ahead, City Council will review a proposed rate increase and budgets for San Antonio Water System,” said District 5 Councilmember Teri Castillo. “The last rate increase of 9.9% occurred in 2020. The proposed rate increase series would increase customer rates 39% over 4 years. Too many families in District 5 already struggle to keep up with utility bills. This Town Hall is about transparency, education, and making sure residents have the information and tools they need to be heard, before decisions are made.”
Representatives from SAWS will be present to explain the proposal, outline consumer assistance programs, and answer any questions from the public. CPS Energy will also attend to share information and receive community input on its generation plan, which will shape San Antonio’s energy future. Spanish interpretation will be available to ensure all residents can fully participate.
