SAN ANTONIO (September 18, 2025) – The District 5 Councilmember has issued the following statement.
“In recent months, there has been uncertainty surrounding the Council Consideration Request (CCR) process and the policymaking role of the City Council. The memo that my colleagues and I issued was intended to provide clarity, reaffirm established practices, and ensure that the Council’s work could continue without unnecessary delays.
“With the adoption of today’s amendments to the CCR ordinance, Council has made it clear that CCRs do not expire and that any future adjustments to the process must be considered by the full Council. This decision brings closure to a period of ambiguity and allows us to move forward with a shared understanding. Most importantly, it enables us to focus our attention where it belongs: on advancing the policies and solutions our communities have long worked for and deserve. It is important to both the Council and the residents we serve that they get answers and results which come from CCRs submitted by their Councilmembers.”
