District 5 Councilmember Files Policy Request for Public Dashboard to Track Spurs Arena Project
SAN ANTONIO (December 11, 2025) – Today, District 5 Councilmember Teri Castillo and District 10 Councilmember Marc Whyte teamed up to file a Council Consideration Request (CCR) that will create a Spurs Arena Project Accountability Dashboard. The dashboard will provide the public with clear, accessible insight into how the taxpayer funding for the new downtown Spurs arena is being spent and whether commitments made to community materialize.
“The public expects the highest level of transparency when there are nearly a billion of their dollars at stake,” Councilmember Castillo said. “This dashboard will ensure that San Antonio and Bexar County residents can track and verify that every single cent is used responsibly and every promise made to community is met in full.”
The CCR requests that the Governance Committee direct the City Manager to develop the online tool where the public can easily access updates on the project itself, financial tracking, construction milestones, reporting and metrics on the Community Benefits, and further interact simultaneously with real-time changes.
“This dashboard is a transparent, community-centered accountability tool that can set a new standard for how major projects are monitored and reported moving forward,” said the District 5 Councilmember. “While my position on the project remains the same, this CCR is aimed at developing a stronger system to track progress and commitments that come with major city projects, like the Spurs Arena.”
The Spurs Arena Project Accountability Dashboard CCR will go to a future Governance Committee for deliberation and next steps. Visit the City’s Council Consideration Requests webpage to monitor its progress.
