District 4 Councilwoman hosts Back-to-School Health Village

SAN ANTONIO (August 11, 2023) – The District 4 Council Office invites families to participate in the Back-to-School Health Village from 8 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12 at Divine Providence Catholic Church. 

“After the hospital closure in southwest San Antonio, families in District 4 will continue to face challenges associated with health disparities so it was important to connect families to the health resources they need to start the school year prepared,” District 4 Councilwoman Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia stated. “Teaching families about the significance of preventive care can help improve health outcomes and shift our understanding of community health.”

This event is made possible with support from Port San Antonio, Frost Bank, Garver Engineers, the San Antonio Professional Fire Fighters Association, and the San Antonio Police Officers’ Association.

Students and families are encouraged to attend and connect with representatives from the following organizations:

Metro Health will provide the following vaccines: Tdap, Dtap, IPV, MMR, Varicella, HPV, Hep A&B, MCV4, MenB, Pneumococcal and COVID Pfizer (6 months +), Moderna and Novavax. Minimum age for program vaccines is 4 years of age starting kindergarten in the fall. Clinical staff will be on site to answer questions about the vaccines and qualifications.

Students must be present to receive school supplies on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.
