SAN ANTONIO (April 6, 2026) — Today, the District 2 Council Office announced the launch of a Community Canvas Small Business Mural Program, a new initiative designed to support five small businesses in District 2. The program will provide small businesses with custom indoor murals painted personally by the Councilmember. The materials and labor are to be provided at no cost to the property owner. This initiative is designed to uplift local entrepreneurs, celebrate District 2’s culture and stories, and bring art directly into neighborhood spaces. Each selected business will collaborate with Councilmember McKee-Rodriguez on a mural concept that reflects the business's identity, values, and connection to the community.

“Our small businesses are the heart of District 2,” said the Councilmember. “They create jobs, serve as community gathering spaces, and reflect the culture and resilience of our neighborhoods. This initiative is about giving something back in a way that’s personal, creative, and rooted in pride for where we live.”

To qualify for the program, businesses must:

  • Be physically located within City Council District 2
  • Operate from a brick-and-mortar location
  • Be independently owned
  • Have an indoor wall space suitable for a mural
  • Be open to allow photography or video of the mural process

Businesses in District 2 are encouraged to apply using this form.
