District 10 Councilmember Votes to Protect and Preserve San Antonio’s Water Supply

SAN ANTONIO (February 5, 2026) – During today’s A Session, City Councilmember Whyte voted against a resolution that would authorize the creation of a Bexar County Municipal Utility District and a Development Agreement between the City, Guajolote Ranch Inc. and the landowners.

The District 10 Councilmember emphasized that decisions tied to any development in the City’s extraterritorial jurisdiction must prioritize long-term water security and public health.

“We cannot afford to make decisions that place the quality of our water supply, and the well-being of both our residents and future generations at risk,” said Whyte.

The District 10 Councilmember acknowledged the importance of private property rights and stressed those rights must be balanced with the responsibility to consider the broader impacts of development decisions. “My focus remains on responsible planning, transparency, and safeguarding the natural resources that our city depends on.”
