District 10 Councilmember Takes Action for Greater Transparency in City Budget Process

SAN ANTONIO (March 25, 2025) – Today, District 10 Councilmember Whyte filed a Council Consideration Request (CCR) aiming to bring more transparency to the City’s budget process. The CCR requests the City Manager to produce a concise, easy-to-understand summary of any tax and fee changes from one year to the next.

On the proposal, Councilmember Whyte stated: “In order for the public to have trust in what goes on at City Hall, our citizens must be able to obtain all of the information necessary to clearly understand what our city government is asking of them and how we are spending their money. To accomplish that goal, today’s CCR requests that a new policy be put into place that will require our City Manager to provide residents with a clear summary of any changes to taxes and fees in the upcoming fiscal year. The creation of this Taxpayer Income Statement will go a long way to creating a more transparent and accountable city government.”

The Councilmember extends heartfelt appreciation to Councilmembers Manny Pelaez, Melissa Cabello Havrda, Marina Alderete Gavito, and Teri Castillo for their support in signing the CCR.
