District 10 Councilmember Supports Continued Spurs Arena Negotiations, Calls for Full Transparency

SAN ANTONIO (August 8, 2025) – On Wednesday, August 6, the San Antonio City Council met in a B Session and received a briefing and update on the proposed Downtown Sports & Entertainment District. Councilmember Whyte was encouraged to see a majority of the Council support continued negotiations on a term sheet with the Spurs, with the goal of bringing it forward for a vote by the end of the month. 

“From the outset, I have been clear: any discussion about the prospect of a new downtown arena must be rooted in transparency and public trust. As the County has now called for a November election, we must do our part as the City to ensure that our citizens have all of the information they need to make an informed vote.” 

The District 10 Councilmember will continue working with City Council colleagues and City Staff to ensure the public has clear and accurate information about what is being proposed prior to November.
