District 10 Councilmember Issues Statement on New Spurs Arena

SAN ANTONIO (July 28, 2025) – Following the July 25 special session related to a proposed new Spurs arena, Councilmember Whyte stated, “It is encouraging that we have arrived at a point wherein a financial framework for the proposed new arena can be shared with the public.”

Councilmember Whyte also reaffirmed being committed to keeping the financial burden off the taxpayers and emphasized the importance of open communication with the public. “A new downtown arena could do great things for our city, and to reiterate, no San Antonio resident should have their taxes raised in order to make the arena a reality. Ensuring the public has all the information needed to make an informed vote on this issue should be our top priority.”
