District 10 Councilmember Comments on Vote to Approve Term Sheet for Proposed Downtown Spurs Arena

SAN ANTONIO (August 22, 2025) – On August 21, San Antonio City Council approved a non-binding term sheet between the City of San Antonio and the Spurs over a new downtown arena.  

Councilmember Whyte stated, “I am pleased that City Council approved the term sheet. This step provides our community with a clear understanding of the proposed agreement, allowing residents to review the details and make an informed decision this November. Transparency and public trust are essential in this process, and the Council’s action reflects our commitment to ensuring San Antonians have the information they need to weigh the proposal fairly. At the end of the day, the choice rests with the voters in November, and I am confident that this process gives them the clarity they deserve to decide the best path forward for our city. This is democracy in its purest form.”
