District 10 Commends Governance Committee’s Decision to Advance Taxpayer Impact Statement

SAN ANTONIO (November 7, 2025) – Today, the Governance Committee advanced Councilmember Whyte’s Council Consideration Request (CCR) on the creation of a Taxpayer Impact Statement to a B Session for full City Council discussion.

Councilmember Whyte expressed gratitude that the proposal received thoughtful consideration and will now move forward for broader discussion among the full Council.

“I am encouraged that the Governance Committee recognized the importance of this initiative. Allowing the full Council to weigh in ensures that we’re taking a transparent and accountable approach to how we communicate the fiscal impact of City decisions to residents.”

The proposed Taxpayer Impact Statement would provide a clear and concise summary of all fee adjustments and property tax rate changes included in the forthcoming annual budget. The goal is to give residents a straightforward look at how these changes may affect them directly, ensuring that every taxpayer can easily understand how their dollars are being used.

“Transparency is key to building and maintaining public trust,” the District 10 Councilmember added. “When residents can clearly see changes in fees, it promotes confidence in our City’s budget process and fosters a stronger connection between the community and local government.”
