SAN ANTONIO (June 18, 2026) – Following the extension of the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) Proposed Rate Adjustment, District 8 Councilmember Ivalis Meza Gonzalez released the following statement:
“Today’s decision to delay consideration of the proposed SAWS rate adjustment until October means that important investments in San Antonio’s aging water will have to wait despite the significant infrastructure challenges facing our community. Much of SAWS's water and wastewater system is aging rapidly, and delaying critical investments only increases the risk of future service disruptions and more costly repairs.”
“As our city continues to grow, we must ensure our infrastructure keeps pace. I’m committed to supporting decisions that will prioritize and protect resilient and reliable utilities of District 8 and the city.”
