D2 Councilmember Responds to Eastside Boys & Girls Club Announcement

SAN ANTONIO (September 22, 2026) — Councilmember McKee-Rodriguez issued the following response after the Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio’s announcement that the Eastside Clubhouse will remain open:

“We are thrilled to share that, following the City’s commitment of $350,000 supplemented by recently announced contributions from private donors, the Eastside Boys & Girls Club is expected to remain open and students will continue to receive services.

“Our priority remains securing the partnerships necessary to provide quality programming for Eastside families.

“Children and families deserve consistency, transparency, collaboration and communication from organizations that seek to serve them.

“We look forward to joining the Boys & Girls Club as they embark on a community engagement effort, where they will hear directly from our residents their priorities for the future of the facility.

“Our office is committed to ensuring that, no matter what happens, this center will continue to provide the services they count on for years to come.”
