SAN ANTONIO (April 17, 2026) – Councilwoman Misty Spears (District 9) has been appointed to serve on the City of San Antonio’s newly established Intergovernmental Relations Committee, created by Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones to strengthen coordination across local, state, and federal partners.
The committee will align the City and County’s legislative priorities, monitor policy developments, and advance initiatives that promote interagency collaboration and effective advocacy.
The District 9 Councilwoman joins Chair Councilmember Jalen McKee-Rodriguez (District 2), along with Councilmembers Edward Mungia (District 4), Marina Alderete Gavito (District 7), and Ivalis Meza Gonzalez (District 8).
The District 9 Councilwoman’s appointment builds on her ongoing intergovernmental work across multiple roles, including service as Tri-Chair of the Military Transformation Task Force, working alongside federal, state, and regional partners to support military missions and economic stability in the San Antonio region. The District 9 Councilwoman also represents the City through regional bodies such as the Alamo Area Council of Governments and the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, helping coordinate priorities that cross jurisdictional lines.
“Strong coordination between local, state, and federal partners is critical to how we move San Antonio forward,” said the Councilwoman. “Whether it’s supporting our military community, advancing regional infrastructure, or advocating for resources at the state and federal levels, this work requires alignment and consistency. I’m honored to serve on this committee and to help ensure San Antonio is proactive, strategic, and unified in how we represent our priorities.”
The Intergovernmental Relations Committee will coordinate and evaluate policies and programs that impact San Antonio, ensuring the City remains aligned and effective in addressing key issues.
The District 9 Councilwoman’s appointment reflects a continued focus on collaboration, regional leadership, and advancing policies that deliver results for District 9 and the broader San Antonio community.
