Councilmember Advocates Bold Vision for Downtown San Antonio’s Future

SAN ANTONIO (August 8, 2025) – During the Wednesday, August 6 San Antonio City Council B Session, a comprehensive update on the proposed Downtown Sports & Entertainment District was received. 

Councilmember Phyllis Viagran voiced support for the project and for the City Manager to continue negotiations toward finalizing the term sheet with the San Antonio Spurs. 

Councilmember Phyllis Viagran remains steadfast and committed to shaping a vibrant, forward-looking downtown San Antonio.

“As we prepare for the upcoming discussion, I want to emphasize the urgency of action,” the Councilmember said. “The sooner we move forward, the better positioned we’ll be. By bringing this to an A Session, and having the County tax vote in November, we can ensure the project reflects the voices and vision of our community.”
