SAN ANTONIO (July 31, 2025) — The San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD), in partnership with the City of San Antonio Public Works Department, is proud to announce that construction is underway on Fire Stations 52 and 53. These facilities will expand and improve the smaller, temporary stations that have served their respective areas for several years.
"These new state-of-the-art facilities will not only expand capacity to support additional resources, but also reinforce SAFD’s deep commitment to the city we serve," Fire Chief Valerie Frausto said.
The construction of the new stations is funded through $17.6 million in Certificates of Obligation. Fire Station 52, located at 10440 Quintana Road in District 4, is funded at $9.85 million (FY 2023 & 2025). Fire Station 53, located at 14102 Donop Road in District 3, is funded at $7.74 million (FY 2024 & 2025).
Each of the two new stations will include a 12,000-square-foot addition to the apparatus bay, a new EMS bay, a USDD Fire Alert System, living and working spaces, emergency power, and improved parking and landscaping.
Project partners include Alamo Architects and CGC General Contractors. Completion is expected in Fall 2026.
