Community Urged to Help Shelter Reach 90% Lifesaving Goal

SAN ANTONIO (September 24, 2025) – San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) has been celebrating National Dog Week with online “happy tails” and stories about man’s best friend. Now, the shelter is inviting the community to help SAACS reach a lifesaving milestone for the month of September.

On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., SAACS will host a $0 adoption event, and timing couldn’t be more critical. The shelter is just shy of reaching a 90% placement rate for the month as the fiscal year ends, and staff are aiming for at least 100 adoptions this weekend to help hit that benchmark.

While the spotlight is on canine companions, SAACS knows that “purr-fect matches” matter too, so cats and kittens are also included in the one-day adoption special. Pets adopted from SAACS are sterilized, vaccinated, and microchipped with a registered, lifetime identification. Pets also come with free lifetime access to the shelter’s professional trainers. SAACS is located at 4710 State Highway 151.
