Clear the Shelters at Animal Care Services

SAN ANTONIO (July 31, 2026) – Empty kennels at pet shelters throughout San Antonio. That’s the dream (and powerful goal) of Clear the Shelters, one of the country’s largest pet adoption events. San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) is proud to be a lifesaving partner again this year. Sponsored locally by Telemundo and NBCUniversal, the 12th annual adoption initiative will feature fee-waived adoptions the entire month of August.                                                                                                                

Would-be CTS adopters also have an engaging new way to find their perfect match with “Fetch a Friend,” a quirky matchmaking quiz now in use at the shelter. Visitors can scan a QR code and answer a combination of practical and personality-based questions. The Q&A then produces a customized list of available dogs that match the adopter’s preferences and “vibe.” Visitors can immediately head to the kennels to meet their suggested matches.                                                                                              

Adoptions are available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. All standard adoption processes and policies apply, and adoptions are first-come, first-served. SAACS is located at 4710 State Highway 151.
