SAN ANTONIO (September 8, 2026) – The City of San Antonio's Office of Historic Preservation will host its 17th annual Home Repair Fair from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, at Wonderland of the Americas, 4522 Fredericksburg Road. This free, public event connects homeowners and renters with local professionals, services, and solutions for home care and maintenance. More information at the event website.
"We are excited to once again offer this free, preservation-focused event,” said Cory Edwards, Interim Director of the Office of Historic Preservation. “Whether you are looking to hire services for your next project or learn a new skill, the Home Repair Fair is a great place to start.”
The Home Repair Fair gives attendees the chance to consult with local rehab experts, get technical guidance, and find the goods and services needed to tackle home maintenance projects, with a special emphasis on resources for houses constructed before 1960.
Exhibit Hall
Presented by Pella Windows & Doors, the Exhibit Hall features more than 55 businesses and organizations, including design services, construction professionals, retailers, and community resources. Multiple City departments will also be on site to answer questions.
Learning Studios
Eight skilled craftspeople will lead hands-on demonstrations covering door repair and adjustment, wood window restoration, basic plumbing fixes, tool sharpening, lamp rewiring, and furniture upholstery. San Antonio Water System (SAWS) will also be on hand to demonstrate how to read a new water meter and develop a native landscaping plan. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos and details of their home projects to share with exhibitors and craftspeople.
Meet Howie D. House
Howie D. House, the Office of Historic Preservation's mascot, returns this year. Introduced in 2025 to bring a friendly face to the event, Howie serves as a reminder that homes — like the people who live in them — deserve ongoing care. All attendees will receive a Howie D. House sticker and tote bag with registration.
