City of San Antonio Provides Places to Stay Warm

Additional Overnight Resilience Hub to open at 5 p.m. on Friday


SAN ANTONIO (February 21, 2025) — The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts patchy freezing rain late Friday afternoon through Saturday morning across the north side of San Antonio.

The City of San Antonio's Department of Human Services (DHS) continues to work with community partners to operate temporary overnight shelters to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness. The City's Street Outreach Team began outreach to the unsheltered population on Monday, February 17.

The following locations are available for our unsheltered neighbors:

  • City of San Antonio Bode Community Center, 901 Rigsby Ave
  • City of San Antonio Tobin Community Center, 1900 West Martin St
  • Communities Under the Bridge (CUB) - 724 Chestnut St, 78202
  • Sold Out Believers Church -1139 Gembler, 78219 (everyone)
  • Sold Out Believers Church - 1802 Guadalupe, 78207 (female only)
  • Haven for Hope - 1 Haven for Hope Way, 78207
  • SAMMinistries – by referral
  • Corazon Ministries - 504 Ave E, 78215

The City's Community Connections Hotline (210-207-1799) is operating 24 hours a day to assist unsheltered individuals by connecting them with transportation, cold-weather supplies, and essential resources. Animal Care Services will also provide kennels to ensure pets are safely accommodated at shelters.

Additionally, the City has temporarily paused all encampment abatements during the cold weather to prioritize the safety and well-being of those experiencing homelessness.

Resilience Hub

The City of San Antonio will open a designated overnight resilience hub at the Northeast Senior Center (4135 Thousand Oaks, 78233) from 5 p.m. on Friday, February 21, through 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 22.

The resilience hub will provide residents with a safe and warm overnight stay, access to basic supplies, charging stations, and free Wi-Fi. Residents are encouraged to bring clothing, personal supplies, and necessary medications. Pet kennels will be available in a designated area to accommodate animals. Residents needing transportation to the resiliency hub can call 3-1-1 (210-207-6000) or the Community Connections Hotline.

Daytime Places to Stay Warm

Libraries, Senior Centers, and Community Centers will serve as places to stay warm during their regular hours of operation.

VIA passengers may travel fare-free to or from these locations through Saturday, February 22. Passengers using VIA bus service or VIA Link (within the Link service zones) should alert the bus operator when boarding; VIAtrans passengers should alert the reservation agent when booking a VIAtrans trip.

Resident Safety Advisory

The City urges residents to stay home unless travel is necessary. If you must venture out, exercise caution, especially on potentially icy roadways.
