City of San Antonio Announces Closures and Adjusted Operations
Critical services, resiliency hubs, and places to stay warm remain fully operational
SAN ANTONIO (January 24, 2026) – Due to the ongoing cold weather event, the City of San Antonio will close some public facilities and scale back most non-essential operations on Sunday, January 25, and Monday, January 26, 2026.
Critical services will remain fully operational to ensure residents continue receiving essential support. These services include:
- Police and Fire
- Public Works
- Animal Care Services Enforcement
- 311
- San Antonio International Airport
- City Homeless Outreach Teams
City libraries, parks, community centers, and senior centers will also remain open and continue serving as Resiliency Hubs and daytime warming locations for residents who need a safe place to stay warm.

Solid Waste Services collection crews will be on duty Monday, though services may experience a delayed start depending on road and weather conditions.
All other non-essential City employees who are able to work remotely will do so during this period.
The City will continue monitoring conditions and sharing updates as needed. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take precautions to protect themselves and others during extreme cold.
Facility Closures
- Pre-K 4 SA Education Centers and Corporate Office, Head Start, and Early Head Start
- Bitters Brush Site (Wurzbach Parkway)
- All Bulky Waste drop-off centers (Bitters, Frio City Rd, and Rigsby)
- Household Hazardous Waste drop-off center (Culebra)
- Animal Care Services (ACS) shelter
- San Antonio Municipal Court
- All Metro Health clinics and offices
- Carver Community Cultural Center
- Alamodome Offices and Box Office
- La Villita and Market Square Administrative Offices
- Office of the City Clerk, including Vital Records
- Culture Commons Gallery at Plaza de Armas
- Centro de Artes Gallery at Market Square
- Spanish Governors Palace
Additionally, all City meetings scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2026, are canceled.
Service Adjustments
San Antonio International Airport
- The winter storm is causing flight delays and cancellations across the United States, impacting many flights at San Antonio International Airport (SAT).
- As of Saturday night, a total of 56 flights have been canceled for Sunday and 7 for Monday at SAT.
- Flight Operations at SAT continue to be monitored by the team to ensure the safety of our travelers. If travel is necessary, please use caution. Before departing for the airport, passengers should check the status of their flight with their airline or at FlySanAntonio.com and allow extra travel time to the airport.
Animal Care Services
- The Animal Care Services (ACS) shelter will be closed to the public.
- ACS staff will continue to care for pets on campus.
- Animal Care Officers will remain on patrol to respond to animal-related emergencies.
