SAN ANTONIO (May 1, 2025) – The City of San Antonio is taking a proactive approach to help small businesses impacted by construction by launching three new grant programs administered in partnership with LiftFund.

“The infrastructure upgrades we make today will ultimately support our city’s economic growth, improve safety and enhance our quality of life for decades,” said Brenda Hicks-Sorensen, Economic Development Department Director. “However, while construction is essential to our growth, we know it doesn’t come without disruptions for our residents and business owners. We are committed to minimizing the immediate impact on our local businesses, so they can continue to grow and thrive along with our city.”

The City is taking a holistic approach to its support – with grants to help businesses before, during and after construction.

The Stabilization Construction Grant, available starting May 1, will provide grants up to $35,000 for businesses and non-profit organizations located in areas under active construction. This encompasses the Zona Cultural, S. Alamo Street and N. New Braunfels Phase 2.

The Accelerate Recovery Construction Grant, which also launches May 1, will provide $5,000 grants for businesses in areas where construction has recently concluded to help them make improvements and upgrades to their interior or exterior space. This area encompasses Bynum Phase 2, Bulverde Phase 1, N. New Braunfels Phase 1 and the Broadway Corridor.

The Mitigation Construction Grant, available starting June 2, is a pilot program for businesses in the Marbach Road Area Streets, where construction is anticipated to begin soon. Each $2,000 grant is intended to help businesses engage additional marketing, add signage or enroll in new delivery platforms to help sustain customer sales during the construction period.

“At LiftFund, we understand the resilience and dedication it takes to run a small business, especially when faced with challenges like construction disruptions. Our partnership with the City of San Antonio through the new grants program reflects our shared commitment to helping local entrepreneurs not just survive, but thrive. We’re proud to stand with the City in providing critical resources that keep our business community strong and growing,” said Amy Hereford, President & CEO of LiftFund.

Eligibility criteria and required documents vary by program. LiftFund is offering two info sessions covering all three programs on April 29 and May 8. The City is conducting additional outreach to businesses in the eligible construction zones. More information is available at COSAConstructionGrants2025.com.
