SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2026) – Starting April 20, 2026, the City of San Antonio will launch a pilot program offering the community the opportunity to submit public comments via voicemail and email for select boards and commissions. By offering these services, the City is providing convenient options for community members unable to attend meetings in person.

With the new voicemail and email public comment process, community members can submit short emails and voice messages up to two minutes in length by 4 p.m. the business day before the scheduled meeting. The messages will be shared directly with board and commission members prior to the meetings.

The pilot phase includes five boards and commissions that frequently handle residential and development matters:

  1. Board of Adjustment
  2. Historic & Design Review Commission (HDRC)
  3. Historic Compliance & Technical Advisory Board (CTAB)
  4. Planning Commission
  5. Zoning Commission

“This initiative will make it easier for residents to share their input regardless of their ability to attend a meeting in person,” said City Clerk Debbie Racca-Sittre.

Following this initial phase, the City could bring these services to a wider range of public meetings. For more information on the program, visit SA.gov/MeetingParticipation. For meeting dates and agendas, visit SASpeakUp.com
