SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2026) – The City of San Antonio is kicking off its 2026 Property Tax Help workshops to help homeowners learn about the property tax protest process and different exemptions available to potentially save on property taxes.

The workshops will be held between April 14 and May 14. Homeowners who attend can apply for exemptions and learn about how to protest the appraised value of their home. There will be 10 in-person and two virtual sessions.

Each workshop will start with an overview of different property exemptions and the appeal process by Texas True Tax. Following the presentation, attendees will be offered a one-on-one workshop with representatives who can help answer questions and complete forms.

“Homeowners continue to see their property taxes increase even though San Antonio's local homestead exemption is the maximum allowed by the state,” said Veronica Garcia, the Director of the City’s Neighborhood and Housing Services Department. “These workshops help homeowners learn how to get the savings they’re entitled to. We are proud to continue offering these workshops throughout the city.”

Doors open 30 minutes before the start of each event. Attendees are helped in the order of their arrival, and the number of people assisted may be limited based on the number of volunteers at each event.

Bexar Central Appraisal District representatives will be in attendance to answer questions and allow attendees to file on-site. The Tax Assessor’s Office will also have staff available to answer questions about payment plans.

Recommended documents to bring to the event and Bexar County resources can be found on the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department’s Property Tax Help webpage. Spanish and American Sign Language interpreters will be on site at each session to help with interpretation services. There will also be sessions led in Spanish, Arabic, and Vietnamese on May 14.
