City Council Introduces Survey to Improve Construction Communications

SAN ANTONIO (May 25, 2026) – San Antonio City Council is inviting residents to help shape how the City of San Antonio communicates about construction projects by participating in a new survey on SASpeakUp. The survey, an idea introduced by District 1 Councilmember Dr. Sukh Kaur, is designed to better understand how, when, and where residents prefer to receive notifications about nearby construction projects.
The survey focuses on residents’ real-world experiences, including whether they have recently encountered unexpected construction along their route, and how that has impacted them. The survey is supported by the majority of Councilmembers.
“Our office wants to make sure construction updates reach people in ways that are timely, relevant, and easy to access,” said Councilmember Kaur. “By asking residents directly about their habits and preferences, whether that’s using navigation apps or social media, we can design a system that truly works for San Antonio residents.”
The survey asks for input on preferred communication methods — such as mobile apps, social media platforms, or other platforms — as well as how often people want updates and what time of day they would like to be notified. Residents can also share what types of construction they want to hear about, and what kinds of alerts would be most useful. Additional questions explore how people currently receive information and whether updates should be shared in community spaces like libraries, parks, and community centers.
Survey responses will help guide future efforts to make construction communication clear, accessible, and aligned with community needs. The survey is now live in English and Spanish at SASpeakUp.com/Construct. It takes less than four minutes to complete, and residents are encouraged to participate until 5 p.m. on June 26, 2026.
