Celebrate Star Wars Day with the San Antonio Public Library

Free events feature movie showings and family-friendly activities for all ages


SAN ANTONIO (May 1, 2026) — The San Antonio Public Library is celebrating Star Wars Day with multiple out-of-this-galaxy events that include lightsabers, scavenger hunts, trivia, and movie showings on May 4 and 5.

At Johnston Branch Library, 6307 Sun Valley, 78227, visitors can make mini lightsabers while supplies last, take mini-droids R2D2 and BB8 for a spin, participate in a Star Wars-themed scavenger hunt and more. The fun starts at 3 p.m. on May 4, and no registration is required.

Celebrate A Galaxy of Fun at the newly renovated Las Palmas Branch, 515 Castroville Road, 78237, starting at 2 p.m. The event will include a movie screening, plus children can embark on a Star Wars-themed scavenger hunt and craft their own lightsaber. Teenagers can create swirling galaxy jars, and adults can assemble Obi-Wan Kabobs made with fresh fruit.

At Westfall Branch Library, 6111 Rosedale Court, visitors from any galaxy can test their knowledge of Star Wars while enjoying a movie screening. Fans in costume and trivia participants will be given a prize while supplies last. The top three winners of trivia will receive additional prizes.

On May 5, the celebration continues at the Pan American Branch Library, 1122 West. Pyron Ave., 78221, with a special screening of one of the many beloved Star Wars universe television shows. Families can embark on a Star Wars-themed scavenger hunt, participate in crafts and enjoy snacks while supplies last.

Several events will feature special screenings of beloved Star Wars movies and television series. Jedis and Sith Lords alike can keep the celebration going by diving into the library’s collection of Star Wars books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies and music. A library card is required to check out items. San Antonio Public Library cards are free for all residents of San Antonio and Bexar County.
