Celebrate Fiestas Patrias and Hispanic Heritage Month 2025

SAN ANTONIO (August 29, 2025) – The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture and the Diez y Seis de Septiembre Commission invites the community to Fiestas Patrias San Antonio 2025. With over 35 events, the City honors Mexico’s independence from Spain and celebrates San Antonio’s vibrant Hispanic heritage throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. The Commission, which was established in 1994, is accepting applications for members to help continue this rich tradition.

“This time is all about honoring the incredible achievements and lasting influence of Hispanic communities,” said District 3 Councilmember and Council Liaison to Mexico Phyllis Viagran. “It’s also an opportunity to pass on the stories and traditions that connect us across generations and celebrate our shared heritage.”

Signature events include: 

• September 12: El Grito Civil Ceremony and Cultural Program hosted by the Consulate General of Mexico in San Antonio at Historic Market Square 
• September 13: 44th Annual Dieciséis de Septiembre Paradepresented by the Avenida Guadalupe Association 
• September 13 – 14: LULAC 648 Diez y Seis Fiestas Patrias at Historic Market Square 
• September 20: Diez y Seis Charreada at the San Antonio Charro Association 
• September 20: Nuestras Voces: Stories of Resilience by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. 
• October 11: Diez y Seis Mariachi Festivalhosted by LULAC 4947 at Arneson River Theatre
