Building Standards Board Seeking Applicants

The City of San Antonio is seeking applicants for its Building Standards Board (BSB). The deadline to apply is Friday, November 21, 2025.

San Antonio residents with experience in the following vacant categories are encouraged to apply:

• Architect
• Engineer (with experience in addressing adaptive reuse of existing and historic buildings)
• General Contractor (with experience in addressing adaptive reuse of existing and historic buildings)
• Veteran
• Social Worker 

Role of the Board

The BSB addresses cases related to Dangerous Structures and properties that are in violation of the San Antonio Property Maintenance Code (SAPMC). The Board also hears appeals from property owners that have received SAPMC Notices of Violation, as well as summary abatements. The Board rules on issues of interpretation, intent, and application of code requirements.

Each panel holds hearings on Thursdays at 9 a.m. Meetings are held at the Cliff Morton Development and Business Services Center (One Stop Center), located at 1901 S. Alamo St., 78204.
