Building-Related and Fire Codes Advisory Board is Seeking Applicants

The City of San Antonio is seeking applicants for its Building-Related and Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board (BRFCAAB). The deadline to apply is August 1, 2025.

Individuals with experience in the following categories are encouraged to apply: Structural engineer, fire protection engineer, electrical engineer, plumbing or mechanical engineer, architect, city-registered building contractor, master electrician, air conditioning and refrigeration contractor, master plumber, commercial building contractor, commercial building owner, manager, or representative, Residential Group R-2 multi-family building owner, manager, or representative, and master sign electrician.

Role of the Commission

The Building-Related and Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board (BRFCAAB) reviews appeals of decisions made by the City’s Building Official or Fire Chief on residential and commercial permits. Property owners who disagree with these decisions can request a hearing before the Board to present additional facts.

The Board generally meets about once per quarter or as needed for variances, appeals, and review of building codes for adoption.
