Animal Care Services Hosts Community Pet Adoption Events This Weekend

SAN ANTONIO (May 22, 2026) – San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) will be in the community this weekend with two offsite adoption events aiming to help more pets find their people.

On Saturday, May 23, SAACS will host a pet adoption event from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at PetSmart at The Rim, 17815 La Cantera Parkway, 78257.

On Sunday, May 24 SAACS will host another pet adoption event from 8 a.m. – noon on the city’s Southside at Mission Open Air Market, 207 W. Chavaneaux Road, 78221.

At both events, community members can meet adoptable pets, speak with SAACS staff, and learn more about fostering, volunteering, and pet adoption resources available through the shelter. SAACS adoption fees include the pet’s sterilization, registered microchip, initial vaccinations, and access to shelter trainers for the life of the pet.

The offsite events are part of SAACS’ ongoing efforts to connect homeless pets with families by bringing adoptable animals directly into neighborhoods and community gathering spaces throughout San Antonio.
