Animal Care Services Community Connections Day

SAN ANTONIO (July 14, 2026) – Rescue collaborations are a critical part of San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) lifesaving efforts. The municipal shelter is teaming up with Alamo City Pit Bull Rescue and other area community partners for a summer celebration aimed at connecting pets and people.

Community Connections Day will be Sunday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Animal Care Services training annex, located at 4710 State Highway 151, giving residents a unique opportunity to meet rescue organizations that regularly partner with SAACS and learn more about their programs, missions and foster opportunities.

Held in celebration of International Ice Cream Day, the event will feature free ice cream for guests and pup cups for canine companions. Participating organizations include event co-sponsor Alamo City Pit Bull Rescue, Texas Husky Rescue Inc., Winding Branch Ranch, Pei People Shar Pei Rescue, Bluebonnet Equine Rescue, Helotes Humane Society and Weimaraner Rescue of Texas.

Potential fosters can speak directly with participating partners and explore programs that fit their schedules, households and experience. If approved, residents could foster a pet for the group of their choice the same day.
