Phase I to begin construction of zero-curb transition and Terminal C canopy at San Antonio International Airport.

SAN ANTONIO (March 19, 2026) – San Antonio International Airport (SAT) announced the start of construction affecting terminal curbside lanes as part of the airport’s Terminal Development Project – a major investment that will increase the airport’s capacity to support future growth.

Beginning March 23, 2026, the first phase of a multi-phase terminal curbside lane closure plan will begin. During Phase I, two of the four lanes at the far end of both the upper and lower levels of Terminal B will be closed to allow for roadway work supporting the future Terminal C.

"This next phase of SAT’s transformation represents far more than infrastructure,” said Jesus Sanez, IAP, Director of Airports. “For millions of travelers each year, SAT is the first and last impression of our city and today is a next step in building an experience that reflects the energy and hospitality of San Antonio. All passengers deserve an airport experience that is accessible and free from barriers. This construction project is moving us in that direction. As SAT continues to experience record-breaking growth, this new terminal will ensure we meet the needs of passengers, businesses and partners from San Antonio and around the world.”

Phase I construction will occur at the far end of Terminal B and will begin work on the zero-curb transition connecting the roadway to the future Terminal C. This design feature supports one of the airport’s core priorities – accessibility – by creating a smoother, more seamless path from the street to the terminal.

Additionally, Phase I will include the start of construction on the Terminal C canopy, which will provide weather protection and an improved curbside experience once the project is complete.

Passengers and drivers should expect temporary changes in how they navigate the terminal roadway during construction.

To help ensure a smooth travel experience, SAT is encouraging passengers to arrive early and utilize the following alternatives to curbside pick-up and drop-off:

  • Short-Term Parking Garage: It offers 3-Hour parking spaces for picking up and dropping off passengers. Parking is $5 for the first hour, and $4 each additional hour, providing a convenient option for greeting arriving passengers, or ensuring loved ones get checked into their flight smoothly.
  • Cell Phone Waiting Lot: It is the most convenient option for drivers waiting to pick up passengers. The lot is free to park in, has free wi-fi connection, and is open 24/7.

To minimize impacts to passengers and airport partners, key construction activity will occur overnight whenever possible.

The Terminal Development Project at SAT is part of ELEVATE/SAT, an initiative designed to support airport growth and strengthen the region’s economy. The projects underway at SAT will expand travel opportunities and help drive continued economic development for city of San Antonio.
