District 4 Councilwoman joins the Housing Supply Accelerator Partnership to help identify solutions to the housing crisis

SAN ANTONIO (May 3, 2023) - The National League of Cities (NLC) and the American Planning Association (APA) have partnered to launch the Housing Supply Accelerator to improve local capacity, identify critical solutions and speed reforms that enable communities and developers to work together to expand housing opportunities.
Councilwoman Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia joins national community leaders and planners to form part of the Housing Supply Accelerator Steering Committee.

The steering committee will guide and inform this important campaign and expand knowledge about , opportunities, and obstacles experienced in different communities. The three areas of focus over the course of the campaign include zoning and regulatory reform; construction and development; and finance.

“As the Chair of the Planning and Community Development Committee, it is an honor to share the meaningful actions and best practices we have developed to address our local housing needs,” commented the District 4 Councilwoman, “It is clear that there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to adequately address the aging housing supply and spur housing development in underdeveloped areas.”

This effort brings together local governments, community planners, builders, financial institutions, housing policy associations and state and federal partners to develop, align and advance solutions that accelerate and incentivize local approaches to land use, housing development and preservation.

Today, key housing supply stakeholders, housing association partners, housing policy partners, local government leaders and planners will convene virtually and in person in Chicago to discuss how construction and development impacts the housing supply.
