María Villagómez

Career

María Villagómez was appointed Deputy City Manager on March 1, 2019. In her position, she oversees the Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management, and Office of Management and Budget. 

Villagómez has been with the City for over twenty five years. Before becoming Deputy City Manager, she served three years as an Assistant City Manager. She also served as the Budget Director and Assistant Budget Director for nine years. 

10 years of her career were also spent in various capacities within the City’s Public Works Department. She held the positions of Fiscal Operations Manager, Fiscal Planning Manager, and Contracts Administrator. 

During her tenure with the City, she prepared and monitored the City’s annual budget, participated in collective bargaining agreement negotiations with police and fire unions, managed process improvements projects, and implemented equity in the budget and City services.
