Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice, A San Antonio Tradition since 1997! Join us for the 28th annual Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
 
Co-Sponsored by the City of San Antonio, The Cesar Chavez March for Justice is organized by The Cesar E. Chavez Legacy & Educational Foundation. Today, the organization is led by Ernest J. Martinez,the son of CECLEF’s founder, the late Jaime P. Martinez.

Today, thousands march together in unity to pay tribute to the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez. The march attracts all parts of the community to include:
  • youth organizations
  • university student groups
  • employer diversity groups
  • non-profit organizations
  • labor organizations
Every year, march will start at the intersection of Guadalupe and Brazos near the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. There is also VIA Bus service for free to pick participants to and from the parade.

 2024 Cesar E. Chavez March For Justice Grand Marshal, (TBA at the Community Kick-Off Press Conference in February)

  • The march is 2 miles long.
  • Water Stations will be available at the 1/2 way point at Flores and Cesar Chavez Blvd. (in front of the HEB). Water provided by VIA Cares Volunteer Team.
  • Portable restrooms and hand washing stations will be available at the start and end of the route.
  • Wear comfortable tennis shoes and prepare for hot weather.
  • Our event is a pet friendly event.

Schedule of Events

  • 9:00 A.M. (Morning Stage): Morning Program and Speakers at the Intersection of Guadalupe and Brazos next to Guadalupe Theater (1301 Guadalupe St)
  • 10:00 A.M.: March steps off for Hemisfair Civic Park 
  • 11:15 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.: Celebration at Hemisfair with Music - Food Trucks On Site – Special Guest Speakers 

VIA Bus Route

VIA Metropolitan Transit will provide complimentary Park & Ride Service to the Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice and ride service back to the Alamo Dome to Lots B & C

March event participants can ride fare-free to the March from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. from the ALAMODOME Parking Lots B & C. Return Service will be offered until 2:30 pm from Old Bowie Street next to the Institute of Texan Cultures, Gate 4.

We encourage you to car pool and utilize the free VIA transportation from the Alamodome, as street closures by SAPD begin at 8 a.m. for Guadalupe St. If you do arrive after 8 a.m. you many only enter the Lanier HS perimeter from the north.
