Neighborhood Leadership Academy: Learn, Connect, Advocate

The Neighborhood Leadership Academy (NLA) is an interactive program to help San Antonio residents become leaders within their communities. Since 2016, more than 200 individuals have completed the class.  

  • Eligibility: Any San Antonio resident who lives within the city limits is invited to apply. 
  • Cost: There is no cost to participate! However, class size is limited, and participants must apply and be accepted.

Courses

NLA 101

This class is a great opportunity for anyone with limited experience in community leadership or knowledge of how the City of San Antonio and local government works. It can help you develop leadership skills and knowledge to be a more effective advocate for your neighborhood. The class includes guest speakers, group discussions and opportunities for networking.

You will learn more about City departments, how to access City resources and City processes. The program can help you have an impact on your neighborhood and be a resource for your neighbors, friends and family. 

Schedule

The next NLA 101 Course will start in January 2023 and last through June 2023! Sessions will be held once a month at various locations across the city.

NLA 201

This class is ideal for anyone with past or current community leadership experience who is familiar with City departments and services. It will provide a more in-depth training on special topics. This program will begin in 2023. Check back for updates.
